The Smith Lab is focused on improving the art of organic synthesis of biologically relevant small-molecules.  We approach this task by planning ambitious syntheses involving reaction invention that can be reused in future synthetic endeavors.  Recent work in the lab has been focused on dearomative strategies using nitrogen-containing heterocycles.
